British Soling National Championships 2026
Racing Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August
If only we could organise the wind…
Saturday morning saw only one race completed, with the second being abandoned due to the wind disappearing. An early lunch was taken ashore.
There was slightly more wind when the sailors returned to their boats, and races 3 and 4 were quickly completed.
Race 5 brought some much wished for wind and all sailors enjoyed 2.5 laps of the course before heading ashore for the evening.
Sunday morning arrived, but there was not a breath of wind, so racing was postponed. After a morning of waiting and wishing for wind, 12 noon came round and the decision was taken to abandon racing.
The prize giving followed shortly thereafter, before retrieving boats and sending the traveling sailors on their way.
Thank You!
This event welcomed 4 visiting crews, 2 from Ireland, one for England and one helm all the way from Australia! They competed against the 6 local Soling crews. It was another fantastic event for Lochaber Yacht Club, a massive thanks to all club volunteers, without whom events like this cannot be held in Lochaber. Thank you also to BID Fort William for the financial support.
